Declare a Minor

The Process

The following process applies to Kennedy Center students. Students in other majors should contact their major’s advisement center for minor requirements.

  1. Meet with your academic advisor to find a minor that complements your academic, career, or personal goals.
  2. Once you've chosen a minor, contact Kennedy Advisement to add it.
    1. Students with fewer than 75 credit hours may be able to add a minor without an appointment.
    2. Students with 75 or more credit hours, or who are adding more than one minor, must complete a graduation plan that includes remaining GE, major, and minor requirements and meet with an academic advisor.

Additional Approval Required

The following minors require written approval from their respective advisement centers, sent to kennedy_advisement@byu.edu, before they can be added:

  • All minors in the College of Fine Arts and Communications
  • Editing, French, International Cinema Studies, Italian, Spanish Teaching, and Writing & Rhetoric
  • All teaching/education minors (requires a teaching/education major)
  • Aerospace Studies, Military Science, and ROTC
