Welcome to the International Study Programs application page.
*Many countries and airlines may require proof of a COVID-19 vaccination for travel and entry. Students considering an International Study Program may want to start early and get vaccinated.
Thank you for your interest in going abroad. Your participation in a program will give you a life-changing, never-to-be-forgotten experience. Please read all of the following carefully, and complete all of the information as accurately as possible. Before entering this application, you should have decided on your program of choice. If not, please take some time to explore the Find Your Program page, and then start your journey.
Both BYU and Non-BYU students can participate in any BYU study abroad program. Only BYU students can participate in direct enrollment and international internship programs.
In this application, you will need to log in using your BYU net ID. If you do not have a net ID, you may create one here. You will also be asked to sign a legally binding agreement, which outlines your obligations and responsibilities and the obligations and responsibilities of Brigham Young University.
In addition, you will be asked to write a short letter of intent for your program. Since this letter will be used in the selection process, you may wish to take the time to compose this before starting the process and then cut and paste it into the application text field.
Depending on your program, you may also be asked to provide one or more of the following during the application process:
- List of academic references (basic contact information from 2–3 professors, counselors, employers, etc.). For study abroad applicants only.
- Resume (may be provided electronically). For internships and direct enrollment.
Please refer to your specific program flyer to find out which of these documents are required for your program. It is not required to complete the application in one sitting. However, once you have paid your application fee and hit the “submit application” button at the end of the process, you will no longer be able to edit your application. You will not be able to edit your application without reaching out to the ISP Office.
Finally, your application will not be complete until you pay the nonrefundable application fee. This may be paid by check, e-transfer, or credit card. If you choose to pay by credit card, you will be assessed an additional 3 percent fee as per BYU policy.
As soon as all of the items on your application are marked as received, your application will be automatically submitted to the faculty director for evaluation.
Non-BYU Provo students must be endorsed by both their bishop and stake president. This may be completed at endorse.byu.edu. Non-BYU students will also be asked to send in a transcript.
After admittance into your program, you will need to upload your passport and immunization information to your application. You can do this by re-entering your ISP application. You will also be able to access your program’s payment schedule.
