Spain Global Health

Dates: 11 May–7 June 2026
Priority Deadline: 1 December 2025
Application Deadline: 1 February 2026

Spend over 20 hours per week shadowing medical providers, observing multiple specialties, and gaining a broad perspective on public and global health. You will rotate through different areas of practice and experience the European health system firsthand. Outside the hospital, you’ll explore Spain through educational activities designed to compare international health systems.

This program is especially valuable for students pursuing public health and global health and offers meaningful experiences for those considering careers in medicine, nursing, allied health, health care administration, or policy. You’ll develop insights into how health care and public health intersect, helping you refine career goals and discern if a future in these fields is right for you. Conversational Spanish is required, as provider-patient interactions and hospital environments operate in Spanish.

Based in Seville, students will live with local host families and participate in cultural and recreational activities. Seville and Andalusia are renowned for historic cathedrals, plazas, flamenco, beautiful scenery, tapas, and vibrant culture. Program highlights include weekday cultural activities and weekend excursions to Cádiz, a historic coastal city; Italica, with remarkably preserved Roman amphitheaters and ruins; and Córdoba, famous for its stunning Mezquita and charming medieval streets.
