Students will visit a university in each country as well as a field school in the Amazon Rainforest. At both universities, students will observe local faculty, plan, and teach lessons. At the field school, students will assist with teaching an adult community class for people in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. During the course of the internship, there will also be opportunities to travel to other cities and participate in cultural activities.

Preparation

Accepted students are required to participate in an once-a-week preparation course (IAS 201R, 1 credit hour), during the first block of the spring 2026 semester (April 28-May 22).

Students must meet all country- and program-specific COVID and health requirements for travel.

International study programs are physically, emotionally, and mentally taxing and you must be in good health to participate. These programs often take place in international locations that do not have the same level of safety and services in terms of transportation, living conditions, residential accommodations, food, public behavior, and policing that you may be used to on campus. If you have further questions or concerns on this, please see our travel policy.
