Italy Business Student Exchange Program

Students will attend classes at Università Bocconi. Bocconi was founded in 1902 and is considered one of Europe’s leading educational institutions in economics, management, finance, and law. Bocconi’s modern urban campus lies in the heart of Italy’s bustling business and finance city. Their course offerings provide a quality response to a wide range of educational needs. Bocconi has bilateral agreements with about 200 top-ranked partner schools worldwide and exchanges more than 1,200 students every year.

Their business school was ranked 6th in Europe according to the Financial Times European Business School Rankings 2019; the MSc in International Management is 31st worldwide according to the Financial Times Masters in Management Rankings 2019; and the full-time MBA was ranked 39th worldwide according to the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2013.

Courses

A broad spectrum of business classes is offered. This program is designed for business majors and only select business courses are guaranteed to transfer. Many courses will count for Marriott School courses and toward the Global Business Certificate.

Students may not take any other courses on this program, including BYU Online courses, without approval by the program director and ISP.

Cost

BYU Tuition

Includes Latter-day Saint undergraduate full tuition (increased cost for graduate and non–Latter-day Saint students); students will be exempt from Bocconi tuition. BYU tuition payment plans and scholarships are still applicable.

Does not include airfare to and from Italy, visa fees, ground transportation, accommodations, meals, or any other educational and personal expenses incurred during the program. Students will also need to pay the $35 ISP application fee.

Funding Sources

Regular BYU tuition scholarships, Pell Grants, and Federal Insured Student Loans may be applied to study abroad programs.

Students who submit the financial aid section of the ISP application and who have a current FAFSA form on file at the Financial Aid Office (A-41 ASB) will be considered for a Study Abroad scholarship.

Academic departments and colleges may assist with scholarships and grants.

Private grants and scholarships outside of BYU may also assist (see kennedy.byu.edu/scholarships).

Preparation

Accepted students are required to participate in an international, cross-cultural preparation course (IAS 201R, 1 credit hour).

Accompanying spouses need to be credit-bearing participants on the program. Spouses will also need to apply online and take the preparation course.

Students must meet all country- and program-specific COVID and health requirements for travel.

Housing

Students participating in this program are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. Students may live off campus in an apartment or with a host family (if available).

Travel

Students are responsible for purchasing their own airfare to and from the program sites. Airline reservations must be made through BYU Travel. Students should contact a BYU Travel agent.

Application Process

BYU welcomes students from any university to apply to participate in our study abroad programs. However, internships and direct enrollment programs are limited to BYU Provo students.

Students must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

Complete the online application here. A nonrefundable $35 application fee is required; applicants will be interviewed once the application is complete.

Students will be notified via e-mail of their acceptance into the program. The first payment is due upon acceptance; please refer to the Payment Information page.

Program Adjustments

International Study Programs (ISP) reserves the right to cancel this program, revise its offerings, or make any adjustments to the preliminary cost.

If it becomes necessary for ISP to cancel a program, all program payments made to BYU ISP will be refunded to the student’s BYU Financial account.

ISP is the only office authorized to cancel any of its programs.

Faculty

The Student Exchange Program (SEP) is an independent international experience. SEP is individual students immersing themselves with local and international students on a foreign campus for a semester independent of any BYU professor or other BYU students.
