Global Communications: Media & Culture in Europe

Dates: 22–30 June 2026 (virtual instruction)
1 July–4 August 2026 (approx.)
Application Deadline: 17 November 2025

Students will trace the history of media technologies and their European origins, journeying through some of Europe’s most influential cities to explore how communication, media, and culture have shaped societies across time. Beyond visiting historic landmarks, they will engage with the deeper story of human communication, persuasion, and philosophy. Along the way, students will examine the historical roots of major communication technologies, from the alphabet and the printing press to radio, television, and film. This program offers an experience that is both academically rigorous and personally enriching. Anchor cities may include Athens, Rome, Frankfurt, London, and Paris, with sponsorship from the BYU School of Communications.
