Art in Spain & Portugal

Dates: 29 April–9 June 2026
Application Deadline: 9 November 2025

Experience the rich artistic and cultural traditions of Spain and Portugal while learning about and making art. The courses will make full use of the museums, artists, and cultural institutions available to help students develop their own artistic voice with an awareness of art history and contemporary art. Particular focus will be placed on art and culture of the Iberian Peninsula, both historic and current, and Spain as a meeting place of the diverse cultures of North Africa and Western Europe.

We will begin with a short stay in Lisbon and then make our way to Madrid by visiting the Alhambra and other significant sites of amalgamated cultural influences. The program will be stationary in Madrid for a number of weeks as we set up studios and make art in response to our experiences.
