Woolf Institute in Cambridge, UK

Dates: 23 June–23 July 2026
Application Deadline: 6 February 2026

Religion, Law, and Society from the Medieval to the Modern

Study religion, law, and society from the medieval to the modern at the heart of one of the world’s leading centers for inter-religious scholarship—while living and studying in Cambridge.

This four-week, direct-enrollment program—sponsored by Religious Education and the International Center for Law and Religion Studies at Brigham Young University—offers undergraduates an immersive academic and cultural experience in different parts of Europe. The program begins in Poland and Germany, where students visit major Jewish and Christian sites, including Auschwitz, and engage thoughtfully with the history and legacy of the Holocaust.

The program then moves to Cambridge for two weeks of intensive study at the Woolf Institute, an internationally renowned center for the academic study of Jewish-Christian-Muslim history and relations. Students study alongside peers from other universities in a course taught by Woolf Institute scholars, combining rigorous academic inquiry with sustained interfaith dialogue. Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a certificate from the Woolf Institute, providing a credential for future study or professional applications.

While in Cambridge, students explore museums, sacred spaces, and historic sites, and live at St John’s College, one of Cambridge’s most distinguished and visually striking colleges. Academic study is complemented by social and cultural activities led by Cambridge-affiliated students, offering an authentic introduction to Cambridge college life and a chance to build friendships.

The program concludes in London, completing a transformative experience that connects classroom learning with lived history, cross-cultural encounter, and personal intellectual growth.
