Chris Rain has until recently worked on regional affairs and security cooperation in the political section of U.S. Embassy Singapore on a range of issues from interdicting arms trafficking to space cooperation. He previously worked on human rights, religious freedom, and Tibet for the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs and at the U.S. Consulate General Chengdu and as a Special Assistant for the Undersecretary of Civilian Security, Human Rights, and Democracy. Other assignments include managing law enforcement assistance and counter-narcotics programs in Guatemala, investigating visa fraud in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and overseeing embassy operations in Sanaa, Yemen. This summer he will begin a year as Special Assistant to the Undersecretary for Management, and will head to Prague in 2025, focusing on China in Central and Eastern Europe.
