The winter 2024 Kennedy Center Featured Title is Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism by historian and journalist Anne Applebaum. This book, chosen in conjunction with this semester's "Authoritarianism and Its Discontents" lecture series, was named a Best Book of the Year by The Washington Post and the Financial Times. The Los Angeles Review of Books calls it “an often sobering, sometimes shocking, but never despairing account of the rise of authoritarianism in the West.”

Want to hear what people are saying about it? Join us for a panel discussion featuring Celeste Beesley (Political Science), Justin Collings (Academic Vice President), and Kelly Patterson (Political Science) on 21 February at noon.

Part of our winter 2024 lecture series, "Authoritarianism and Its Discontents."
