Join us for a launch of the upcoming book Particles of Truth: A Story of Discovery, Controversy, and the Fight for Healthy Air, with a discussion with co-author C. Arden Pope III of BYU's Department of Economics.
Particles of Truth, by C. Arden Pope II and Douglas W. Dockery, is a compelling, real-life account of the discovery of the critical health effects of air pollution. With an insightful foreword by former EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, this book provides an inside look at groundbreaking scientific evidence that air pollution is a major contributor to disease and death and that reducing air pollution saves lives. Published/distributed by MIT Press/Penguin Random House (April 2025).
Pope and Dockery have been at the forefront of air pollution and health research for nearly four decades. They have also been involved in related public policy and legal controversies. Pope is a professor of economics at BYU; Dockery is a professor emeritus at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Books will be available for purchase and signing at this event.
