Fulbright U.S. Student Program
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is designed to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. After finishing a bachelor’s degree, can apply to one of over 140 countries worldwide to:
- conduct research,
- complete graduate studies, or
- teach English abroad.
Interested students should typically contact James Mayo, the Kennedy Center scholarship coordinator, during their Junior year, if interested in going abroad right after graduation. Applicants are free to apply at any point leading up to or after graduating with a bachelor’s degree. Applications from current BYU students, as well as BYU alumni, must be uploaded (but not submitted) to Fulbright’s online application system by the campus deadline. Applicants will then be reviewed and endorsed by BYU’s Fulbright campus committee before the national deadline.
For all questions involving the application process and timeline, contact James Mayo.
