Come listen to Peruvian Congresswoman Digna Calle Lobatón speak about her journey from being an orphan (her father was assassinated by Shining Path terrorists, and her mother died in childbirth) to becoming a congresswoman. She will also speak about women in politics in Peru and some of the initiatives they have championed recently.

Digna Calle Lobatón was born in the Department of Ayacucho. After raising three children, she was elected to the Peruvian Congress for the 2021–2026 term, where she has helped author numerous pieces of legislation focusing on helping the marginalized sectors of Peruvian society. She has served in numerous capacities within the congress, including as one of the vice presidents of the congress as well as the vice president of the consumer defense commission.
