CLS: Critical Language Scholarship

The CLS Program provides fully funded, group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks each summer for U.S. citizen undergraduate and graduate students in fifteen foreign languages: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu.

Application Details

Applicants will be required to complete an online application, which includes two letters of recommendation, four short-answer essays, one longer personal statement, and an unofficial transcript. Applications should be reviewed with James Mayo, the Kennedy Center scholarship coordinator, before submitting.
