Ruth Newman joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 2008 and assumed her duties as Senior Program Officer in the U.S. Department of State’s International Expositions Unit in July 2023. She served previously as the Deputy Spokesperson in the Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Mission to Italy, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, and the Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Mbabane, Eswatini. She holds degrees from Brigham Young University and Johns Hopkins University. She is joined in her State Department assignments by her husband Rob and their six children.
