Andrew Hedges will speak at this Disciple-Steward Lecture Series event.
Andrew H. Hedges is a professor of Church history and doctrine at BYU, with degrees in Zoology, Ancient Near East Studies, and American History. Though most of his research and teaching has been in 19th century Latter-day Saint history, his long-standing interest in nature, conservation, and stewardship has resulted in three publications: “’Compassion upon the Earth:’ Man, Prophets, and Nature,” published in 2006; “A ‘Forbearance of Restraint:’ American Wildlife and the Word of Wisdom, 1560–1833,” published in 2018; and A Reed Shaken with the Wind: The Human and Natural History of the Bear River Marsh, slated for publication with the University of Utah Press later this year. His current research interests include Joseph Smith’s legal papers and LDS teachings on humankind’s relationship with the natural world.
