Her Excellency Lianys Torres Rivera, Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba, will speak on BYU campus.
Lianys Torres Rivera is the first woman to head Cuba’s mission in Washington. From 2015 to 2017 she was part of the Cuban delegation that met with the US government authorities to discuss the re-establishment of diplomatic relations and the re-opening of embassies in both countries. She has been part of Cuba-US bilateral dialogues on regulatory issues, human rights, traffic in persons, renewable energy and banking issues.
