UN, EU, NATO

Prestigious Internships:

United Nations (Geneva and Vienna), European Union Traineeships (Brussels), NATO (Brussels)

We would like to encourage and support BYU students who apply for prestigious, highly competitive internships at the UN, the EU, and NATO. These internships will require more work than other internships, but working with these entities will be a big boost to your career goals and are worth all of the extra work.

If you are interested in these EU/ UN/NATO internships, please complete the following steps:

  1. Apply for the Brussels/Geneva/Vienna: Global Leaders in Europe internship program
  2. Schedule an interview with the program directors
  3. With the help of the program directors, prepare a resume and a cover letter and practice your interview skills
  4. Consult with your program directors as you track, prepare and submit your applications to the EU, UN or NATO portals.
  5. ALL decisions about internships rest completely with the EU, the UN and NATO, and these office directors DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO with your program directors. These are VERY competitive internships.
  6. If you are selected as an intern, sign up for the ISP prep class and carefully follow all ISP instructions as you prepare to leave for Brussels, Geneva or Vienna

All internships for the United Nations locations in Europe are available through the UN career portal. Please carefully read through the instructions on this portal and become acquainted with the way it works:

Warning: There are job advertisements and offers that falsely state that they are from the United Nations. Please be aware that the United Nations does not request payment at any stage of the application and review process. Please consult with BYU ISP closely.

Several different UN organizations run their own websites that explain their internship procedures:
