How did your Asian Studies degree at BYU connect you to your career goals?
My internship that was a class as part of my degree allowed me to be hired by my current job. The language assessment test was a requirement to start teaching as well.
What are specific competencies or skills you gained in the Asian Studies program that are applicable to your professional life and set you apart from others?
Finding source material that is academically challenging yet helpful for my students has been a great skill I gained from the Asian Studies program. Due to taking a variety of classes such as humanities to dance has helped me create a more well rounded learning experience for my students.
What do you wish you had known as an Asian Studies student at BYU? What advice would you share with current students of Asian Studies?
Take advantage of every class that you think will be helpful to understanding your future career. Go to the all the speeches by the guest speakers and professors.
