How did your Asian Studies degree at BYU connect you to your career goals?
Gave me broad ways to think other than the analytical nature of the sciences.
What are specific competencies or skills you gained in the Asian Studies program that are applicable to your professional life and set you apart from others?
I was a bachelor of arts going into the medical profession. The classes were not just teaching me analytics, math, and scientific reasoning, but writing, art, literature and creativity. It opened my mind to the broader world.
What do you wish you had known as an Asian Studies student at BYU? What advice would you share with current students of Asian Studies?
Study hard and travel to see as much of Asia as you can.
