For some, Lionel Messi’s recent triumph in the World Cup placed him in the center of G.O.A.T. debates. This presentation, by world-renowned soccer journalist Jonathan Wilson, will examine why Lionel Messi matters in this “Messi Moment” in Argentina and the world.

Jonathan Wilson is a British soccer journalist for The Guardian, as well as an author, founder and editor of The Blizzard, and co-host of the podcast Greatest Games. He has written eleven books, including Angels with Dirty Faces: How Argentinian Soccer Defined a Nation and Changed the Game Forever, Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Soccer Tactics, and The Names Heard Long Ago: How the Golden Age of Hungarian Soccer Shaped the Modern Game.
