The Salt Lake Committee on Foreign Relations (SLCFR) is pleased to welcome Ambassador Thomas Shannon as the guest speaker at this event.

Ambassador Shannon is a Senior International Policy Advisor with the law firm Arnold & Porter and co-chair of its Global Law and Public Policy practice. He is also co-chair of the board of the Inter-American Dialogue and serves concurrently at Princeton University as the Co-Director of the Program in the History and Practice of Diplomacy. He is also the Charles and Marie Robertson Visiting Professor and Lecturer at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Holding the personal rank of Career Ambassador, Shannon most recently served as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs (2016–2018). Prior to that appointment, Shannon served as Counselor of the Department (2013–2015) and United States Ambassador to Brazil (2010–2013).

The evening's events include a social at 6:00 p.m. followed by a dinner at 7:00 p.m. and Ambassador Shannon's presentation at 8:00 p.m.
