BYU’s Scandinavia Internship Program provides speakers of Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, or Swedish an unmatched cultural-linguistic experience in workplaces in Scandinavia designed to broaden cultural and linguistic proficiencies and develop professional competencies. In most cases, it is expected that students will have intermediate or advanced language skills (at least 202 or equivalent level) before applying. The internship experience provides students in exciting new linguistic and cultural contexts unmatched by classroom experiences on campus. Students live with native speakers, experience what it is like to work in Scandinavia, receive language mentoring, and have cultural experiences through site visits, museum, and performances. The internships cover a wide variety of fields, are unpaid, and will last approximately seven weeks. All majors are welcome to apply. Internship fields may include research, bio technology, government, museums, public relations, communications, business and marketing, IT, education, etc. Students are welcome to suggest additional areas of interest. The focus of the internship program is to help students develop language skills in a wide variety of contexts. Although we work with students to secure internships in their designated areas of interest, internships in specific professional areas cannot be guaranteed.
