Ryan Aiken is a Foreign Service officer with the U.S. Department of State and is currently assigned as a Ukraine desk officer for political-military affairs in the Office of Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus Affairs.. Previously, Aiken served in Pakistan and Washington, D.C. Prior to the U.S. State Department, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps (2002–07), and worked as a legislative assistant in the Washington, D.C., office of former U.S. Representative Tom Lantos (2000–02). Aiken received a BA in international studies from the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies at BYU in 2002 and an MA in Russian and East European studies from the University of Michigan in 2009. He speaks Russian, Hungarian, and French.
