Come explore the layers of Paris and the city’s majestic urban landscape of cafés, parks, boulevards, world-renowned museums (Louvre, Orsay, Pompidou) and monuments (Sainte-Chapelle, the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur). Using the city as a classroom, we will discover how Paris has long been a center of history, literature, gastronomy, fashion, and the arts – and, more recently, of business, human rights and an evolving European multiculturalism. Designed to help you increase proficiency in French through coursework, homestays, and real-world interactions, our curriculum will introduce you to literary and artistic traditions of multicultural Paris. Venturing further afield, the program will include multi-day excursions to Bordeaux and Marseille. From Paris, we will take day trips to nearby Chartres for its Gothic stained glass and to Louis XIV’s luxurious palace at Versailles (near the site of the new temple). The program is a great way to complete your French Language Certificate, fulfill your GE Arts and your Letters electives, and/or make progress toward a French minor or major in one term!
