This program works with the award-winning company The Intern Group, which will help place students in an internship in their field, coordinate housing, transportation, activities, and much more. HOUSING
Students will live in a student dormitory. Meals will not be provided; however, you will have access to a kitchen. Housing will be arranged by The Intern Group coordinators.
COURSES
Students are required to register for 4 credit hours during the program. All communication interns are required to take the internship course COMMS 496R (minimum 4 credit hours) or students may arrange other courses with professors pertaining to their major and the type of internship work they will be performing.
Students may not take any other courses on this program, including BYU online courses, without approval by the program director and ISP.
COST

Includes Latter-day Saint, undergraduate tuition for 4 credit hours (increased cost for graduate and non-Latter-day Saint students), internship placement and in-country support (The Intern Group), accommodations, airport transfers, some social and cultural events, visa assistance for obtaining BUNAC tier 5 visa, and international health insurance coverage.
Not included: airfare, obligatory BUNAC tier 5 visa ($1000 approx.), meals, transportation, personal expenses, and passport fees.

PREPARATION
The internship is open to students from all majors. Applicants outside of the BYU Communications program should apply to the ISP Individual Experience program (kennedy.byu.edu/international-individual-experience/). Preference will be given to students who are eligible to receive internship credit.
Students will be responsible for obtaining a BUNAC Tier-5 visa on their own and will receive orientation from ISP and The Intern Group.
Accepted students are required to participate in an international, cross-cultural preparation course (IAS 201, 1 credit hour). This evening course will be held during the second block of winter semester 2022.
All participants are required to show proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination (including booster) at least two weeks prior to departure.
FUNDING SOURCES
University, departmental, and private scholarships, as well as federal financial aid such as Pell Grants, Stafford loans, etc., may be applied toward the program’s cost.
Interested students are strongly encouraged to begin planning for expenses abroad as soon as possible and seek creative methods of financing the opportunity, such as private scholarships, some of which can be found at kennedy.byu.edu/scholarships or through BYU’s ORCA grant program.
Students in the College of Fine Arts and Communications may qualify for funding from the Oscarson Discovery Grant.

APPLICATION PROCESS
BYU welcomes students from any university to apply to participate on our study abroad programs. However, internships and direct enrollment programs are limited to BYU–Provo students. Students must be 18 years-of-age or older to participate.
Complete the online application at kennedy.byu.edu/apply. A nonrefundable $35 application fee is required.
Students are to provide a professional resume, a cover letter (about 3/4 page), and a description of internship interests. Students may obtain how-to handouts as well as one-on-one resume consultation from the communications internship coordinator. E-mail these documents to comms_internship@byu.edu.
Applicants will be interviewed once the application is complete.
Students will be notified via e-mail of their acceptance into the program.

If it becomes necessary for ISP to cancel a program, all program payments made to BYU ISP will be refunded to the student’s BYU financial account.
