How has contemporary Brazilian culture engaged Brazil’s political panorama since 2013? In this presentation, we will examine how Brazilian cultural expression has processed events such as the 2013 protests, the 2016 impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff, and, more recently, the election of Jair Bolsonaro.
Leila Lehnen is Chair of Brown University’s Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies and the author of Citizenship and Crises in Contemporary Brazilian Literature. She is the past President of the American Portuguese Studies Association.
