The J. Reuben Clark Law School and Women in Law has invited undergraduate students to their international movie night, featuring Wadjda.
Wadjda is the first non-documentary movie filmed entirely in Saudi Arabia; it was directed by a woman and explores women’s issues in ultraconservative Saudi society. The film brings up questions of the impact repressive religious-based laws have on communities and on women in particular through a charming story about a young girl named Wadjda who wants to own and ride a bike in public like the boys her age.
