What does working as a military and domestic prosecutor, an international war crimes investigator, and as a diplomat teach someone about “truth,” “justice,” and the “American way”? Consider the observations and reflections of a long-serving member of six administrations, especially what he learned from the peculiar perches he occupied in overseas assignments undertaken under the last three presidents.
David J. Schwendiman is Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Head of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has also served as Assistant Utah Attorney General and Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Utah. He is a Clinical Instructor and Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law.
