Ray Sudweeks is a career Foreign Service officer currently serving at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, where he coordinates U.S.–India energy cooperation, a top bilateral priority for President Obama and Prime Minister Modi. In past assignments, Sudweeks has led a Provincial Reconstruction Team on Afghanistan’s border with Iran; served two tours at the embassy in Seoul, Korea; where he participated in a mission to North Korea that secured the release of a detained American citizen and conducted an extensive survey of the food situation in remote parts of the country; and served as a consular officer in Shanghai, China. His Washington assignments include the Benelux Desk, the South Pacific Desk, and seven years as an analyst covering North Korea foreign policy issues. Sudweeks speaks Korean and Mandarin. He and his wife Jennifer (Skousen), a fellow Foreign Service officer, are the parents of three daughters.
