Joel S. Baden is a professor of Hebrew Bible at Yale Divinity School. Baden is a specialist in the Pentateuch, Biblical Hebrew, and disability theory in biblical studies. His publications include Reconceiving Infertility: Biblical Perspectives on Procreation and Childlessness (with Candida Moss; 2015), The Promise to the Patriarchs (2013), The Historical David: The Real Life of an Invented Hero (2013); and The Composition of the Pentateuch: Renewing the Documentary Hypothesis (2012). He recently released “The Book of Exodus: A Biography” with Princeton’s Lives of Great Religious Books series. Baden received an MA in Northwest Semitics from Chicago and a PhD in Hebrew Bible from Harvard.
