His Excellency Carlos Pareja Rios, son of a career diplomat, was appointed as Peruvian ambassador to the U.S. in September 2016. Pareja previously served in Chile, Switzerland, Spain, and Washington, D.C., as well as in Lima. He received a BA from Pontificia Universidad de Peru, a master’s in diplomacy and foreign relations from the Diplomatic University of Peru, and a bachelor of laws from the Universidad de San Martin de Porres. Pareja and his wife Consuelo Salinas are the parents of two sons.
