His Excellency Luis Miguel Castilla was appointed Peruvian ambassador to the U.S. in 2015 by President Ollanta Humala. Castilla previously served as minister of economy and finance for Peru. During the past three years, Peru’s credit ratings were upgraded by all major credit rating agencies (classified as the second-highest investment rated country in Latin America). His diplomatic career has included service as deputy finance minister and chief of staff. In addition, Castilla has over fifteen year experience at multilateral development banks, holding senior positions at CAF – Development Bank of Latin America, among others. He received a PhD in economics from Johns Hopkins University.
