José V. Borjón has been head consul of Mexico in Salt Lake City since 2017, having most recently served as deputy director general of ceremonial in the Protocol Direction General, as deputy director general for the southern border in the Direction General of Latin America and the Caribbean, and as an advisor for the undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean. Borjón’s most recent publication is “Opportunities for Linking with Mexican Youth in the United States,” in the Mexican Journal of Foreign Policy (May-August 2016, Matías Romero Institute-Ministry of Foreign Affairs). He received a degree in international relations from UNAM, a master’s in diplomatic studies from the Diplomatic Academy of Mexico, and an MA in European studies from the Ortega y Gasset Institute in Spain.
