Jacey Skinner will provide an overview of her career in law. Skinner will describe her career path, provide career advice, and discuss life lessons.
She was appointed general counsel for Governor Gary Herbert of the State of Utah in 2013, where she advises the governor, his staff, and his cabinet. Skinner oversees the legislative coordination of the governor’s office and his cabinet, as well as the governor’s bill review and signing process. Previously, she served as the director of the Utah Sentencing Commission and was president of the National Association Sentencing Commissions. Skinner is a member of the Utah Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence and the Utah Office of Guardian Ad Litem’s Advisory Committee, and she is a Center for State Governments’ Toll Fellow. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, gardening, and building furniture.
