This lecture will explore the identity and experiences of international students who attended university in Italy in the 16th and 17th centuries. Rome, Bologna, Padua, and other Italian cities each had multiple student residential colleges that offered housing and more to students from various European countries and regions.
Christopher Carlsmith is a professor of history at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he teaches courses in early modern European history. A former Fulbrighter and Villa I Tatti Fellow, his research interests include the history of education and the history of childhood.
