Join us to get an idea of how to adapt to a new country and, most importantly, why you need to do so.
Nils Bergeson, head of project design in Kabul for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will be joining us to discuss the importance of cultural adaptability in the Foreign Service. Bergeson previously served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Braila, Romania, but moved to USAID in 2009 as a Foreign Service officer, serving in in Bogota, Colombia, in Astana, Kazakhstan, and in Kabul, Afghanistan. In August 2016, he will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia, as USAID’s representative to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). From his experience serving in diverse locations, Bergeson understands the necessity of adapting to surroundings in new countries and how to do it with a family, too.
