Brazil’s borders, established through a storied history of infiltration, colonization, and finally annexation, have once again become a focal point as the state seeks to reestablish control of its territory, reduce the flow of illegal goods, primarily drugs and guns, and decrease violence in its major cities.
Dodge Billingsley, has been a long-time observer of wars and contested regions and has spent considerable time documenting geopolitically important regions. Billingsley’s documentary films have won a number of awards, including the prestigious Rory Peck and Royal Television Society awards, and he has produced and directed the Kennedy Center series Beyond the Border. Fronteira da Grandeza is the most recent film in the series and will premiere at BYU’s Studio C on Thursday, 16 March and is open to the public.
