This full-time position works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to elevate and expand the UNICEF USA presence and network in Washington, D.C., by providing volunteers and community partners with the resources and opportunities to speak out, build community, advocate, and fund-raise for UNICEF. The position will report to the team based in NY or Chicago and work closely with internal teams and initiatives to help develop and execute the region’s engagement and advocacy strategy.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to)
• Lead and support Washington, D.C.’s UNICEF UNITE Council—UNICEF USA’s grassroots organizing structure—through the day-to-day management of volunteers, tools and activations in line with the domestic engagement strategy, campaigns, moments, and calls to action.
• Recruit, select, train, steward and recognize volunteers for leadership roles on the UNICEF UNITE Council.
• In collaboration with regional managing director, lead on developing and cultivating local community based, governmental, and university partnerships within the Washington, D.C., metro area that advance the organization’s strategic engagement and advocacy goals.

Eligibility/Qualifications
• Must have experience with community organizing, volunteer management, and a passion for inspiring others.
• Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent experience; professional or academic background in advocacy, civic engagement, grassroots organizing, international affairs, volunteer management or related fields.
• Extensive knowledge of the Washington, D.C., civic community.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years related experience with direct donor/constituent contact, event planning, or other relevant employment preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to prioritize; work independently; handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously; and to generate pragmatic solutions to challenges.
