His Excellency Matthew H. Tueller has served as U.S. ambassador to Iraq since 2019. Previously, he was appointed ambassador to Yemen in 2014 and to Kuwait in 2011. He has served as deputy chief of mission in Cairo, Kuwait, and Doha, as political minister counselor in Baghdad, as political counselor in Riyadh, as Chief of the U.S. Office in Yemen, as political officer in London, and as political/consular officer in Jordan. Tueller received a BA from Brigham Young University and was awarded the BYU Kennedy Centerʼs Distinguished Service Award. He received an MPP from Harvard Universityʼs John F. Kennedy School of Government.
