Jeffrey M. Hovenier is the incoming deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Hovenier served at U.S. missions in Germany, Peru, Croatia, Paraguay, and Panama, at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and in temporary assignments in Serbia and Montenegro. He received a BA in international relations from BYU and a masterʼs degree from Georgetown University and fluent in Spanish, Croatian, and German. Hovenier is married with four children and is a founding member of the Kennedy Center’s International Advisory Board.
