Gordon J. Stirling was a career Foreign Service officer for twenty-four years, serving in Anglophone Caribbean (Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados), Europe (Rome, Vienna), New York (U.S. Mission to the UN), and Washington, D.C., in the U.S. Department of State. Stirling’s work included human rights, counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, arms control, and arms and technology export controls. Following his Foreign Service career, he was an adjunct instructor of political science at UNLV and Utah Valley University.
