Why do Latter-day Saints feel drawn to the study of scripture, and how have their efforts to seek God’s written word contributed to the unfolding Restoration? Join us for the Kennedy Center's Disciple-Scholar Lecture, where Matthew Grey—coordinator of the Ancient Near Eastern Studies program—will share personal reflections on Joseph Smith’s vision for understanding the Bible “by study and faith,” and how that vision continues to inspire the study of the biblical world at BYU.
Dr. Matthew Grey is a professor of ancient scripture who does archaeological research on the world of the Bible in Israel, Jordan, and Italy. As coordinator of the Ancient Near Eastern Studies program in the Kennedy Center, he helps students connect scholarship with spiritual insight, deepening their understanding of faith in its historical and cultural contexts.
