GIVE Salt Lake

Tuesday, 13 October
3:30ā€“5:00 p.m.
David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah

The upcoming GIVE Salt Lake conference is designed as a two-day, cross-sector convening focused on effective philanthropy and collaboration. The conference will bring together individual donors, corporate philanthropy professionals, and nonprofits to discuss innovations in outcomes measurement and technology usage, cross-sector collaboration, social entrepreneurship, skills-based volunteerism, and giving and corporate engagement. Several breakout sessions are scheduled throughout the event to dig more deeply into these topics and provide a forum for solutions development.

Cotopaxi is spearheading the ninety-minute workshop on skills-based volunteerism. They would like to conduct a design thinking workshop around the Refugee Coding initiative they are currently piloting in partnership with the Refugee Services Office and the Bhutanese community. The design thinking workshop would include about forty participants and focus on bringing together companies to sustainably scale the coding project. The workshop’s outcome will be an implementation plan that provides companies wishing to engage their employees in skills-based volunteerism with an action-oriented toolkit. It will respond to the needs of the refugee community and the Refugee Services team so that the program can be feasible and self-sustaining.
