Hearing Jesus’ Parables through Jewish Ears

Amy-Jill Levine, an expert in both Jewish Studies and Early Christianity, will explore familiar parables in their original historical, cultural, and religious context, showing how Jesus’ illustrative stories challenged contemporary expectations and caused people to reexamine themselves and their relationship to God.

Levine is University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies, E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies, and Professor of Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School and College of Arts and Science in Nashville, TN.
