CenCore National Security Internship

Spend eight months working at a government facility as an access control specialist in Georgia, Hawaii, or Texas for CenCore.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring and controlling access into customer’s facilities
• Operating and ensuring the proper administrative control of equipment
• Conducting random inspections to circumvent entry of prohibited/restricted items into customer’s facilities
• Operating metal detectors, X-ray equipment, explosive detection, and other equipment at pedestrian/equipment control points
• Monitoring closed circuit television systems, intrusion detection systems, fire alarm systems
• Dispatching response personnel as necessary

Summer Language Workshop

The 2016 Indiana University Summer Language Workshop is accepting applications for intensive study of Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (BCS), Chinese, Estonian, Hungarian, Kurdish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, and Ukrainian.

The program features twenty contact hours weekly; twice-weekly language tables; films; food tastings; student-run graduate research groups and other culturally rich extracurricular programming.

  • All students pay in-state tuition
  • Competitive funding available to qualified students:
    • Project GO scholarships for undergraduate students in ROTC in Arabic, Chinese, Persian, Russian, or Turkish
    • Title VIII fellowships for graduate students and area studies scholars in Azerbaijani, BCS, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Russian, or Ukrainian
    • FLAS funding available for Arabic, Azerbaijani, BCS, Estonian, Hungarian, Kurdish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Persian, Russian, Turkish, and Ukrainian
  • Classes held 6 June–29 July 2016
    • All levels of Arabic begin 31 May 2016
    • 4-week option available for Russian (ending on July 1)
  • Students earn 4–8 credits

Each year, the Sié Chéou-Kang Center at the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies awards 10 full-tuition scholarships to outstanding master’s degree-seeking students from the U.S. and abroad. Internships for Undergraduate and Graduate Students

The National Committee on United States–China Relations offers both full- and part-time internships for undergraduate and graduate students. The internship is unpaid, but commuting costs are reimbursed. This is an entry level position which generally includes a variety of administrative and program assignments.

Internship responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Research assistance for programs and briefing kits for delegations to China and visitors from China
  • Administrative assistance for public events, seminars, and programs
  • Archiving historical and current material
  • Translating materials and correspondence (English-Chinese)
