Intercultural Outreach Photo Gallery
Deadline for submission: 17 November 2007
Take an active part in raising cultural awareness! Submit
your original international photos to the Intercultural Outreach Photo
Gallery. The top three photos will be published in an Intercultural Outreach CultureGuide and will be recompensed with $50. Other honorable photos
will also be selected for publication in Intercultural Outreach’s CultureGuides.
CultureGuides are complete, country-specific lessons that contain information,
resources, and media for classroom presentations. Designed to answer the
demand for current methods and research in teaching cultural awareness
and understanding, CultureGuides are an indispensable tool for educators.
Developed in two series, both series are directed to either the primary-
or secondary-school level. The pictures included in CultureGuides are
vital to helping students catch the vision of what other cultures are
really like. Contribute to this educational product by sharing your pictures
of cultures from around the world.
The gallery will feature pictures of people, places, and elements of
cultures from around the world. While pictures representing any culture
will be included, there are many specific countries and topics that we
are particularly interested in obtaining photos of for our CultureGuides.
Check the list of countries and topics from the left menu to see if you have the pictures we’re looking for. To increase the
likelihood of your photo being chosen for publication in a CultureGuide,
not only should it be related to one of the countries/topics on our list,
but it should also be without distracting elements. Distracting elements
include people in the picture who do not reflect the culture of interest
(especially missionaries) and poor picture quality.
Submitting your photo:
- Submissions may be either emailed digitally or turned in to 237 HRCB as unmounted 4x6 prints.
- Digital photos must be emailed in .jpg format to intercultural_outreach@byu.edu and cannot exceed more than 10 photos per email. You may submit more than 10 photos provided you do so in multiple emails. Each photo must be saved as the photo title provided on your entry
form. Entry forms must be sent in the same email as the photos submitted.
- Each photo, both digital and prints, must be accompanied by an entry
form. There is no entry fee.
- The Kennedy Center reserves all rights to all photo entries. After photos have been scanned, contestants will be notified to retrieve their original photos from 273 HRCB.
