David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies
Parliamentary Internships—Brussels, Edinburgh, and London
Individual internships are available in the European Parliament, Scottish Parliament, the House of Commons, the Permanent Czech Representation to the European Union (for Czech speakers only), and Human Rights without Frontiers. Students work as researchers and personal assistants. Their responsibilities include preparing legislation, researching information for debate, writing speeches, monitoring key issues in the media, and so forth.
International Relations—Kyrgyzstan, Lativa, and Switzerland
Selected students will intern in an international organization or nongovernmental organization in Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, or Switzerland. Possibilities include UN programs, other international organizations, and a wide variety of nongovernmental organizations in trade, human rights, and government transparency. Among other tasks, students attend meetings, perform research, and report on important issues facing their organization.

Programs
The web site links you to five major internship posts in Paris,
London, Brussels, Bonn (Berlin, Cologne), and Madrid. Clicking on
the city of your choice, you will find the available internships
and information about the cities. BYU is not participating at this
time, however, interested students are advised to contact CSE in
216 HRCB or Terri Humphrey in 280
HRCB.

Note: If you choose to access by “Location,” both internships
and jobs will be listed. Listings with a euro sign are locked and

UK, France,
Germany, Netherlands, and Spain
The web site offers some helpful resources, but it is not easy
to navigate. Students may choose between a company, country, or
internship search, or post resumes or CVs online for companies to
view. However, to do this, students need to set up an account (the
registration is free). Once account has been set up, and students
have posted their CV online, companies will also contact them in
case of interest for a possible internship. *Academic credit available.
University College of the Fraser Valley Career Centre
Jobs and Internships in Europe
The site is a great source of information. Students will find web
site listings offering internships and jobs in Europe, as well as
listings for specific companies, such as EPA.
These internships are in participation with the University of Rochester
in London, Edinburgh, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Bonn (Berlin, Cologne)
for fall semester (a few are available in summer), but they do not
include academic credit. The school granting the credit will charge
an additional fee. In Brussels the fees include five working days
in Strasbourg to coincide with the Plenary Sessions of the European
Parliament. The dates for the Brussels program may change when the
timetable for the European Parliament has been established. BYU
is not participating at this time, however, interested students
are advised to contact CSE in 216 HRCB or Terri
Humphrey in 280 HRCB.
BUNAC
UK and Ireland
This site provides four- to six-months work opportunities for U.S.
students in Britain and Ireland. Students interested in this paid
internship opportunity will need to apply in order to receive a
special working permit, sponsored by BUNAC. Visit the web site for
detailed instruction, application forms, and FAQ. *Academic credit

Syracuse Summer Programs
Spain,
UK, France, Switzerland
Summer months internships vary from program to program and include
tuition, living costs, and fees. Most programs offer housing, but
not meals. A $55 fee must be paid with the application. For further
information and application procedures, see the web site. *Academic

CDS International
Germany
Paid placements are available in business, finance, technical,
and engineering fields for six (enrolled students) to twelve months
(extension possible up to a total of eighteen months for graduates).
Applications should be submitted approximately five months prior
to desired start date. *Academic credit available.
InterExchange
France,
Belgium, Spain
The site offers various levels of internship opportunities in European
countries and a few other places (New Zealand, Canada). The application
procedure and detailed information about eligibility, placement
and internships offered vary depending on the country; see details

International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTFY)
Netherlands
This unpaid internship is open to candidates who have an educational
background in law, journalism, translation and interpretation, and information
technology. For more information, contact Ms.

UNICEF
Worldwide
These unpaid internships are available depending on need. Applications
must be submitted two to three months in advance. However, UNICEF Country
Offices usually take summer interns as follows:
- Deadline: 1 October for January–May internships
- Deadline: 1 March for June–August internships
- Deadline: 1 July for September–December internships

Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
Internships:
Geneva, Switzerland
Open to graduate students in a field related to United Nations—drafting
ability in either English or French is required. Interns are selected
twice a year, in May/June for the third quarter (1 July–30 September)
and fourth quarter (1 October–31 December), and in November/December
for the following first quarter (1 January–31 March) and second
quarter (1 April–30 June)
